… And we are on a mission!

At different times and for different reasons, we set foot on Lanzarote. But it was its beauty, tranquility and mystery that made us fall in love with this island. So we decided to make it our home.

While traveling around the world, we were always happy when we found a place with nice food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. A home away from home to slow down and to adapt to the easy pace of life.

We decided to translate this feeling together with our passions into our own spot in paradise. We combined our love for plant-based food, Belgian and craft beers, fine wines and vinyl music to envision Bistro Árbol.

Now we can invite you, to our cosy bistro to share food with friends and family. Or just relax on your own while enjoying a Belgian beer or a local wine. At your own newly adapted pace.

One team

A Conejero (a native of Lanzarote) at heart knows how to tackle things, whether it is in the kitchen or behind the bar. 2 teenagers in the house must have something to do with this. He knows so much about the island and its history and loves to share these stories with us. He is very much interested in the world and its different cultures. In his free time he likes to enjoy a nice dark Belgian beer with friends or to make music. He is a multi-instrumentalist who, as a teacher, passes on his knowledge to future musicians. And recently he himself started to learn how to play the piano.

Bengüit

Being an architect and working for various NGO’s over the years. Birgit is a specialist in shelter coordination. She has been helping out people all over the world after a natural disaster to rebuild their houses. As a reminder of her missions she always brought back a painting or an object. These art pieces found a new home in her house in Tinajo. As did her books. She is an avid reader and is really proud of her library. And books and wine, well that’s a match made in heaven, right?

Birgit

Let’s just say her parents were not thrilled when she turned vegetarian at the age of 11, living in a small village in Belgium, with no internet in sight yet. At the same time her interest in vinyl music was sparked by her Uncle Willy. Going to concerts and listening to Neil Young (to name one ;-) became part of her life. After a career in PR - with the emphasis on hospitality, fashion and design - she landed in Lanzarote. Also the ideal place to go running, which she loves. Not a bad thing considering she is passionate about beers. A nice hoppy one, that is.

Food philosophy

Think global, act local really means something to us. We also like to be transparent. We make everything from scratch and quality goes first. We have carefully created our menu so there is food for everyone.

We use, whenever, vegetables, fruit and herbs from the island. Luckily, some of the other Canary Islands are greener and therefore yield a wider variety of vegetables and fruits.

We’ve made a selection of local wines of which we think are the best. The bodegas we work with are Bermejo, El Grifo, La Grieta and Guiguan. And from time to time we also offer ‘guest wines’. Our house wine (white-red-rosé) comes from the Peninsula, the choice is yours.

Being good Belgians, we can’t live without a good beer. Try some of the best craft beers of Lanzarote – Malpeis (Tinajo), Nao (Arrecife) – or one from our neighbours in La Palma or Tenerife. We serve the best lager of Spain ‘Mahou Cinco Estrellas’ on draft and in bottles we have a great selection of Belgian beers. Salud!

Andy from Andy Brot makes the burger buns especially for us and we also use their brown and gluten-free bread. They bake the traditional German way and add no unnecessary ingredients to their dough. Plain and simple.
